PRODUCTION DESIGN

ABOUT

Caroline’s professional foundation was built on her practical experience of design and exceptional eye for detail and aesthetics, honed during her time at Goldsmiths University and applied successfully in various creative industries including the fast paced world of visual merchandising at Harvey Nicols, global stylist at Aquascutum, event design and setting up a product design company. All creating visually compelling narratives. However these achievements ultimately felt restrictive to her deeper creative aspirations.

Her transition to production design in 2009 was driven by a desire to integrate her expertise with the boundless creative potential of film, an industry she had dreamt of being in. The move was a conscious and brave pivot, trading a secure, established role to start an un yet established career in film/tv. Caroline's inherent strength lies in understanding how environment, texture and colour contribute to narrative depth and the importance of people working ‘together’ to create a vision. She values loyalty from her team and being with like minded people creating synergy in designing and the film making process.

Her understanding of set decoration, architectural storytelling, creating worlds which all serve as silent characters within the script. Blending her experience and vision in other creative industries coupled with a robust practical knowledge gives her a unique perspective as a production designer and HOD. Her broad experience in the film industry spans diverse projects, from historical dramas like Werner Herzog's QUEEN OF THE DESERT [telling the story of Gertrude Bell] and j.p watts THE WAR BELOW [recreating the tunnels under The Somme] both based on true stories. To the unique musically driven film THE MAN IN THE HAT directed by john-paul davidson & stephen warbeck which was filmed across France to the comedic journey of Dixie, a small town guy from Wales with a big dream in SVENGALI directed by John Hardwick. Janis Pugh’s CHUCK CHUCK BABY won her a nomination for BAFTA Cymru for Best Production Design which also won best film. Following this success, Caroline took time away to become a carer for her mum until her passing at the end of 2024. She has since signed with a new agent and recently wrapped on a feature-length drama documentary, slated for cinema release in January 2026.
